a story to begin with..
alethea placed her bag outside her classroom just above the row of lockers right outside her classroom and removed the calculator from inside one of the pockets. filling nervous, she stepped into the class room, go to her seat and sat down. she would be sitting for the paper she dreaded most. a math. yes.. she practiced it till 12am in the morning and nothing about logarithms got into her mind. what exactly was logarithms, she didnt know. neither did she know what use would it be for her in future. all she knew that she is starting to hate mahts because of all the log stuff. "cant we just settle for elementary maths? darn it." she thought to herself. she wished all of her friends good luck before turning around to face the front.

the paper ended in an hour. and alethea could have sworn that she would fail. and badly too. single digit or double digits, she didnt know. but she can bet all her harry potter possessions she have (which cost more than $100 in total) failed it. she wondered how did anyone on earth could have passed a math. she decided to call those ppl who can score higher than 25 for the 35 mark paper maths freaks. duh.. the english paper wasnt easy either. she didnt understand half of the passage as she wasnt a musical person and the passage was about old music traditions in a particular country. she was already tired out by the time she finished the third question of her english paper and she wanted to sleep. how she wished that there is just a magical world like harry potter's.. and she was one of the people in the hidden wizarding community. if she was.. she need not study stuff like a math. ok.. arithmancy sounds like maths.. but it is optional subject. unlike here.. hais.. and chinese... sounds like ancient runes. but it is optional subject too.. and alethea swore that she could score an 'o'(for outstanding) in muggle studies. but no. she was stuck in her neck up in the classroom completing an english written exam. it was common test week and she was already tired out by the second paper. she had five more to go.

the rest of the papers were spread throughout the whole week, just like Ordinary Wizarding Levels in Harry Potter. but she knew that this high level of exams would come next year.. in the o levels in the real world. pity... the next few papers didnt go too well either. and the onli paper she had at least sure that she could pass was chemistry. e maths went quite well but she was sure she got the first question wrong. she couldnt care less. she just prayed hard that she did not fail a math too badly. the news that came from the teacher, the setter of the a math paper herself, was tht there were failures in class, as usual.. bad failures too. and it's half the class who failed. she was disappointed. she her real disappointment was that there were people scoring 0 out of 35. tht scared alethea.. she almost cried. it was the first time she was afraid of any subject. and she was starting to think the her maths teacher was a maths freak when she was young too.

alethea had only 3 papers left. higher chinese, geography and physics. she couldnt be bothered about chinese. it was also a written test.. composition. and alethea knew tht's the only place where she could score. she loves writing. but it was whether she had the mood to or not. well.. hermione granger obviously did not study by her mood.. she had occasional mood swings.. and if she did, she would not have scored the highest for her level. but alethea was impressed. hermione granger could score and everything.. yet.. she did not sound or look like a nerd. AND she was harry potter's best friend. ok.. harry potter might not be a real character, but still, alethea still looked him upon as someone who deserved respect, not like a teacher of hers. wht she was worried about was her geography.. she wondered how difficult can a 20 mark paper be, but you never know. she decided that if she wanted to pass the whole of the common test, it would be the chinese composition, e maths and geography which can pull her results up. she had no confidence in her favourite subject of history either. again, she did not care...
